Daddy's Pride / Beach

  • Bouncy House

This past weekend we were planning to hit the beach or go to the museum. We figured if the weather was nice we will take full advantage it, and be outdoors. And if the weather was a little cold, we will introduce our son to an art museum. Well, of course neither happened. :) Our son had plans of his own. He wanted to go to a place that has huge bouncy houses so he can test his vertical. He wanted go through inflatable obstacle courses that challenges his military-spartan-ninja skills. Last, he wanted to go down a slide that allows him to break the sound barrier. So, we took him, and honestly we "all" had a great time. It was awesome seeing our son go completely nuts with all the other children. They were running, jumping, falling, sliding, rolling, and tumbling. And most importantly they were all smiling and laughing.......except for those children that got kicked in the face, pushed back down a ladder, or trampled on. :) So, we will probably do this again, and maybe my wife and I will be less overprotective, and perhaps be as cool as the other parents who felt confident enough to not watch their child every minute. :)

  • National Ice Cream Day!

This past Sunday, my wife and I pushed our son to the limit, and eventually he had a meltdown. You see, the little man probably should've had a nap after hitting the beach, and eating pizza. However, we ignored his so-called nap time because my wife and I wanted ice cream. :) I mean...when coffee ice cream with heath bar is calling your name you just have to get it....right?...oh yeah! :) Also, it was National Ice Cream Day!As we already know, the little man did have a meltdown which of course made it a little difficult to eat our dessert. We had to eat it fast while running around chasing an unhappy child. However, in retrospect, I would say it was still worth getting ice cream. We got our son to take part in an American pastime....eating ice cream outside on a beautiful summer day. And maybe the next time we try to do this again, the little man will be better even if he's tired.

  • Summer Weekend Activities

Its mid-week, and I am already thinking about what to do during the weekend. :) I usually wait until Friday to spontaneously figure things out, but having an active child has made me a planner. I want to make sure my son's weekend is action packed, fun, and very summeresque. And of course the goal is to maximize our time together. So, shall we hit the beach again or do something different like going to a lake? I know he wants to see the movie Planes, so can we fit it in our day? And will he be open to going to Boston or Portland for the day.....perhaps go to a children's museum? Let's see what happens.

  • FIFA World Cup 2014

Watching FIFA World Cup, and playing soccer is exactly what this summer has been all about. I don't know how much better it can get. Here's the little man's interpretation of Neymar....or maybe he's really been a Miroslav Klose fan? He has been kicking the German soccer ball all along.

  • Panda Balloon

Good things happen when you just leave the house, and be active. We unexpectedly came across this huge floating Panda, and that made my son's day. The little man had never saw anything like it before. Now I need to take him to the Macy's Day Parade.

  • Back to the Beach

Technically, the summer does not end until late September, but to me it ends in August. So, we took the little man to the beach again because the summer is almost over! We only went for an hour, and yes it took us a lot longer getting him ready for the beach than the amount of time we spent there, but it's still worth it. He's a kid, and should enjoy his childhood. So, get to the beach especially if you have yet to go, and have fun.

  • Animal on the Run

The little man is at it again. His curiosity is taking him past the rocky beach. Luckily, I can catch up to him before he jumps into the freezing water.

  • Where To Go Next

A long time ago I mentioned my love for travel and maps, and I hope my son feels the same way. Here's a picture of our world traveler trying to figure out where we should go next. I think he wants to go back down south. He's probably dreaming about sunny weather, going to the beach, and eating bbq.

  • Fearless

A couple of weekends ago we took our son to the beach, and we learned that our son is truly not afraid of the water. We sat him down on the sand thinking he would just sit and play with his toys, but we were pleasantly surprised that he would rather go into the ocean. He just ignored all the stuff we brought, and crawled towards the water. This little guy had no fear. If it weren't for us picking him up right before the waves splashed our son would be pretending to swim. So, my wife and I talked about this fun experience, and we came to the conclusion that our son will fearlessly play water sports or be a beach bum.

  • Beach Day

We took our son to the beach and it was well worth it. He smiled the whole time. Everything he saw was new, and he had a new experience. He touched the sand, saw the ocean, and felt the strong wind blowing into his face and hair. All these things may sound trivial, but to a little child (and myself) its wonderful. Also, taking him was a great experience for us too. We walked around and simply relaxed.

  • Things to Do

Once Wednesday comes around, I begin thinking about all the stuff I have to accomplish before the weekend, and what to do during the weekend. I know that many of us have to juggle our weekends by doing some extra work and running errands, but we always hope to get some downtime/fun time. Now that our son is little bit older (plus the weather is finally warming up), my goal is to dedicate Wednesday’s blog about things I hope to do with my son. I hope it will help me plan better, get outside, and make sure my son has fun during the weekend. Perhaps it might even inspire you. So, this weekend I plan to take my son to the beach. Our son has yet to touch the sand on the beach, so I think he will find it interesting. He will get to roll around in it, and maybe we can build something. Hopefully, he does not want to eat the sand. Let’s see how it goes.

  • Beach Stroll

I took advantage of the February warm up and took my son to the beach. Not for a swim or suntanning, but for a relaxing stroll with his mother and I. I think he enjoyed being outside and smelling the sea air. He licked his lips surprised by the taste of the salty air. I can’t wait until I can take him in the water to horse around.

  • Warm Weather

We wanted to take our son out earlier today for a stroll, but it was freezing outside. I believe it was 15 degrees Fahrenheit. So we opted to just stay indoors. We did not want our son to freeze and catch a cold. So, it will still be a while before the weather becomes warmer to take the little one out, however I just can’t wait. It’s going to be a lot of fun taking him to the park, beach, and city, or at least around the block. Dear warm weather, please come soon!

  • Dubrovnik

This time last year we were in Dubrovnik, Croatia. We enjoyed the sparkling blue waters of the Adriatic Sea. We hope to take our son back to this paradise. If you look very closely you can actually spot my head in the water. My wife took the picture.
