Daddy's Pride / Brunch

  • Brunch Smunch

A couple of weeks ago my son and I had some time to kill, so we went to Zaftigs, a great brunch spot near Boston. My wife and I used to go there all the time before we had the little one. So, I was definitely looking forward to eating some good food and drinking coffee while spending quality time with my son. Well….whatever I did imagine was thrown out the window after 5 minutes of sitting in our booth. My son wanted to roam around and talk to people instead of drinking his milk, eating his mac and cheese, and coloring. As for me, I only had 1 cup of coffee, a bite size taste of my son's meal, and I spent all my time trying to control the curious monkey.I guess my outing was a little too premature. I probably should have thought twice. Perhaps we need to try this again in a couple of years! For now, we will just stick to eating in the park so the little beast can run around.

  • Father's Day Recap

Yesterday my wife and son treated me to a great father's day brunch. They must think I'm an awesome daddy. They made sunny side up eggs with tons of lobster, spicy guacamole, salsa, crème fraiche, and a pop over with honey butter. To top it off, we had mimosas in fancy goblets. I was very impressed. Once I have a wonderful brunch, I'm good for the day and can't ask for more. However, there was more! During the afternoon, we did not do any work. We just sat in our yard for a couple of hours, played with our son, and watched shows via computer. It was relaxing. Later in the evening, we went out for dinner and spent time with extended family. I really enjoyed father's day, and I hope all of you were treated with love and appreciation. I know I was.

  • Sunday Brunch

We went out for Sunday brunch to our usual place. This time we brought our son, and he sat nicely in his car seat drinking his milk while mommy and daddy ate french toast and eggs benedict peacefully. Our son watched us talk intently. He seems anxious to join the conversation.

  • Monday Brunch

Today we went out for brunch. Before we sat at the table, the hostess asked if our 11 week old son would need a kids menu. I guess our son looks old for his age or she was a clueless college student. Also, as new parents we found this hilarious because our son only drinks milk, and he’s way too young to be thinking about what he wants to eat. On another note, he did a great job behaving himself. We fed our son prior to going out for brunch, which means he kept the peace and did not disturb the neighbors.
