Daddy's Pride / Presents
Jan 15, 2014
Our son has been sick for the past few days, so my wife suggested we should buy him a present. It will make him feel better. I don't know why I didn't think about it, but I guess that's what moms do...they actually think. :) So, the other day during lunch, I accidently came across a children's store, and decided to buy something. We still needed to get the little guy a present to cheer him up. I bought a bouncy ball that has drawings of the solar system on it...so it was something different, and bought a book about trucks which was not different at all. He loves trucks! And before I left the store they wrapped the gifts. This was awesome because it would be like Christmas all over again for him, and I did not have to wrap anything. I gave him the presents, and it was a hit. He liked them. And guess who gets all the credit? Daddy gets all the credit. :) Now I need to figure out how to give credit to the mastermind.

Three days before Christmas we told the little man he could open a present each day, and of course he opened a few more with our permission. I am sure to many of you we were breaking a cardinal rule during Christmas, but we had good reason. :) We wanted to make sure our son gained some experience in opening presents so that he knew what he was doing on Christmas Day....seriously. :) Last year he was only a year old, so he was a inexperienced gift opener. All he wanted to do was look at the beautifully covered boxes. I don't blame him...who doesn't like all the pretty Christmas wrapping paper. However, my wife and I opened all of his presents. So, this year we wanted to make sure he opened his presents all by himself. Well, he did it! He was very successful in opening his gifts, and we think a lot of it has to do with the number hours he practiced. I guess practice does make perfect.

The other day I took the plunge, and started wrapping the presents we bought for our son. And of course during the first present I tried wrapping, he comes strolling into the room wondering what I was doing. I thought I locked the door, but he somehow managed to pick the lock. These two year olds are really smart. :) Well, unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to hide his present, however he did like it, so that's a good thing. I guess next year wrapping presents will be even more difficult because by that time he will be searching for them. Next year I will need to be more stealthy.
