Daddy's Pride / School

  • What About Me?

I just found out that my son tells my wife everything that happens in school. From who he plays with to who is nice or not so nice to his daily activities. I'm happy that he has this open communication with my wife. However, what I don't understand is why he doesn't share these details with me? :) Every night I ask him specifics about his school day, and he just ignores me. :) A minute later, he say's "lets wrestle!...you're a tiger, and I'm a lion...roar!" I guess boys will be boys. :)

  • Hooray For School!

Little man started school yesterday, and boy was he excited. I guess he was sick of us. :) Who can really blame him. He gets to go back hanging out with his friends, and being somewhat independent. So, as a curious dad, I wanted to know more about his day. Below is our very short conversation.Daddy: How was school buddy? Was it fun? Did you play with so and so?  Son: Daddy do you poop in your pants? Daddy: Nope. :) Anything else happen in school? Son: Nope. Let’s play planes. Daddy: Okay.  Son: Crash planes. Daddy: Okay.I hope all you parents can relate to this. If not, then please don’t tell me. I would then have to worry. :)

  • Playing Hooky

The little man has been sick for the past few days :( , but I think he will be back to his usual self by Friday. :) The amusing part about this is that I think he planned his tiny fever to avoid going to school most of the week. :) Oh....and we have a long weekend coming up so he has no school on Monday as well. I guess it's true when people say that little kids are smart. :)

  • Awesome

The other day our son said the word “Awesome”. Both my wife and I looked at each other wondering where he learned this word. Neither of us say “Awesome”…it’s not part of our vocabulary. I can understand him saying the word “Cool”, because I say it all the time, however, the word “Awesome” is never used in our house. So, a few days passed, and my better half realized how he learned the word. He picked it up from school. :) He has been going to school for about 2 weeks, and I guess he’s been absorbing all this information. Now we wonder what else will he start saying or even doing? The fun continues…:)

  • School Orientation

Last week, we took our son to his first school orientation, and both my wife and I were really excited. He will have the opportunity to learn new things and meet other children. Here, he was writing or perhaps he was actually drawing. Who knows?....but we were impressed. The orientation was only for an hour, but by next month school will be in session. We hope he makes the transition smoothly.
