Daddy's Pride / Sleep

  • Please Go To Sleep

Last week the little man was sick. So, we kept him out of school. His days were filled with sleeping in as long as he can, and taking long naps in the middle of the day. We figured this would be the best way for him to get some rest and quickly recover. Well, it worked. He his up and running. :) However, now he's up and running way too much :) Someone needs to get this kid back to bed. Those long naps have yet to go away, and as a result he quickly built a routine for staying up late at night. :) The past 7 nights we have been up playing with legos, disney cars & planes, marvel toys, and puzzles until 11pm! Someone help! :)

  • Back to School

The little man went back to school after taking a week off for Spring break. He's back to the daily grind of playing outside, doing arts & crafts, and learning. :) So, today after school I asked him how his day went, and his response was...."sleeeeeeeep". Life must be tough for a 2 1/2 year old. :)

  • Basketball Not Boring

A long, long, long time ago when our son was just born, I use to put him to sleep by watching basketball games. I would just hold him while watching the game, and he would easily doze off. I think basketball ball games kind of bored him. Well, I recently started to doing that again, such as last night. I tried to put him to bed while watching the New York Knicks play to get him to fall asleep, but he just stayed awake. He stared at the people running around as they were passing and shooting the orange ball. My goal of trying to bore him back fired. I guess he now might be interested in basketball.

  • Fall Back

During last year's daylight savings time, we did not really get to enjoy turning the clock back one hour. We were new parents back then, which meant we were up all night taking care of the little one. We probably needed an extra five hours of sleep...not one hour. So, yesterday I made sure to enjoy my extra hour. Unlike most people who tend to sleep in on Sunday, I made good use of the extra hour by going to bed earlier. I guess this is what you have to do when you have a little one waking you up in the morning.

  • Sleep Anywhere And Anytime

Yesterday my son and I watched the first game of the NBA finals. I was really excited, however my son thought it was pretty boring. He fell asleep in the middle of the first quarter. He must have been pooped out from all the playing around we did prior to tip-off. I was pretty happy that he fell asleep at a normal hour, but for some reason he has been falling asleep in the weirdest places as of late. As I wrote in yesterday's blog, he recently fell asleep in his high chair. Also, he fell asleep in my wife's arms which is not normal. He's always very excited to be with his mommy, and does not want to hit the sack when she's around. So, my temporary conclusion to all this sleeping in random places is that he finally needs his beauty sleep, and wants to sleep, or he's becoming more like his daddy to have the ability to sleep anywhere and anytime.

  • Ocean

My son loves the sound of the ocean. He has this little lamb stuffed animal that makes all sorts of noises, but his favorites are the sound of ocean waves crashing and whale noises. These sounds soothe him and puts him to sleep. We have taken my son to the beach twice. He is mesmerized by the sound and image of waves crashing. Prior to my son’s arrival, my wife and I enjoyed just sitting out and enjoying a good water view. I am sure as my son grows, we will be chasing him in and out of the water, instead of gazing at the peaceful water movement.

  • Party Time

Last night my son and I danced all night long. We danced so much that he was begging me to put him to bed. He kept making these expression that screamed “daddy, I don’t want to party anymore!!….you win!!! I want to go to get my beauty sleep.”

  • Finally, a Little More Sleep

My son finally slept last night. Woohoo! He slept for 2-3 hour intervals. Now I know this does not sound like a good night sleep, but this is better than him staying awake for 4-5 hours at a time. I am so energized that I am actually writing this blog in the morning. I hope this trend continues. In retrospect, who knew that before our son was in our lives that getting six hours of uninterrupted sleep would be priceless. So, today I have to congratulate our son for giving mummy and daddy less dark circles. You made us really happy today. Thanks!

  • A Baby's Life

Eat, pee, poop, sleep. Eat, pee, poop, sleep. Eat, pee, poop, sleep. This is what my son gets to do all day and night. I only get to eat, pee, and poop! It is 2am as I write this post. Hopefully, my son will fall asleep while he eats, so the wife and I can get some shut eye.

  • Happy To Be A Dad

Life has changed in such a good way that I cannot express in words. Let’s just say I can stare at my child all day and not get bored. I am completely entertained and willing to lose sleep and change diapers all day. Tomorrow we will get to take him home and start our lives together.
