Daddy's Pride / Soccer

  • Watching Soccer

Now that the FIFA World Cup is over we can go back to our normal lives...right? Well, not for this family. Because the little man lives for playing soccer, or at least kicking a ball :), my wife and I will do our best to watch soccer year round. So, the first step is to order the soccer channel so we all can occasionally watch an MLS or European soccer match. Let's see how this goes.

  • FIFA World Cup 2014

Watching FIFA World Cup, and playing soccer is exactly what this summer has been all about. I don't know how much better it can get. Here's the little man's interpretation of Neymar....or maybe he's really been a Miroslav Klose fan? He has been kicking the German soccer ball all along.

  • Growing Taller

Watching my son get taller is pretty amazing. However, this enjoyment does come with a price....he's becoming more dangerous. He's now able to touch everything from plates on the kitchen table to completely grasping door knobs. He has yet to drop a plate or open a closed door, but it will happen very soon. And I know this because last week he finally figured out how to use the water dispenser from refrigerator. He manage to spill water all over the kitchen floor. Now I just need to teach him how a plastic glass is better at capturing water than his mini soccer ball :)

  • Monkey in the Middle

We started playing soccer in the kitchen. All three of us are enjoying it. The only problem is that our son wants to pick up the ball. Our game goes from playing soccer to monkey in the middle. The little guy enjoyed running back and forth trying to get the ball. When he was able to get the ball, he held it high over his head and threw it is hard as he could. For now, it is ok, since the ball doesn't go so high. But I think we should move our game out of the kitchen so he does not knock down some glasses in the process of hurling the soccer ball.

  • Watching Sports

Even though the USA women’s soccer team lost, it was a fun match to watch. Sitting there with excitement, I realized I cannot wait to start watching sports with my kid. Me and him side by side on the sofa or at a live event being part of the action. Whether it is basketball, football, tennis, baseball, or soccer, I am going to love this part of being a dad. He will be drinking his milk and eating his cookies, while I teach him all the different teams, players, and rules. How exciting!
